Why I Became a Therapist

My journey with therapy began at 18 when I entered therapy for the first time after struggling with anxiety and feelings of loss due to a tragic event in my family. Experiencing the death of my cousin at a young age left me grappling with intense emotions, and I often felt isolated and misunderstood. In my Hispanic family, discussing feelings wasn’t the norm, leading me to internalize my pain.

It wasn’t until I sought help that I discovered the transformative power of therapy. My therapist not only provided a safe space for me to express my fears and anxieties, but she also equipped me with valuable coping skills. Through our sessions, I learned that vulnerability could be a source of strength rather than weakness. I realized that addressing difficult emotions and experiences was crucial to healing, and I wanted to share this understanding with others.

Seeing firsthand how therapy could illuminate paths of healing and empowerment inspired me to become a therapist myself. I am dedicated to breaking the cycle of silence and stigma surrounding mental health in my community. I strive to be a beacon of hope for those facing their own struggles, just as my therapist was for me. My goal is to help others navigate their emotions, find their voices, and reclaim their lives. I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and healing, and I am committed to being there for my clients on their journey toward a brighter future.
