“Let’s change your life, one thought at a time”

Hi I’m Vicki Perez!

I’m different from most therapists out there. What makes therapy with me different? Well in order to understand that, let me tell you the quick story of why I became a therapist.

When I was 8 years old, my family suffered the tragic loss of my cousin, due to a malignant brain tumor. Not only did this event cause me to suffer greatly from anxiety throughout my life, but I also saw how the loss caused many of my family members to suffer from substance abuse due to difficulties with managing the negative emotions they were experiencing.

My family is Hispanic, so feelings weren’t necessarily being discussed or processed with each other. I found that I didn’t have the appropriate channels to cope, and so I continued to develop extreme fears of losing my loved ones. I also found myself trying to find love and release in very negative places.

When I was 18 years old, a new college student, I entered therapy for the first time, and I consider this the time period that changed my life. I was already going to school for Psychology, but what my therapist did for me, I knew I wanted to do for others. She showed me that there was light at the end of a very dark tunnel. She taught me coping skills, helped me with my self esteem, and made me realize that life was beautiful, and full of things that could reduce my worries. I found out that I was more powerful than I ever thought possible, and that I was in complete control of my life and future.

I knew I had to break my family trauma, and by being the first person to participate in therapy, I helped others see that talking about tragedy didn’t make it worse, but actually helped alleviate the pain.

I’ll Help You Find The Answers

I became a therapist because I am passionate about helping people with substance abuse concerns, traumas, or history with negative relationships, find the strength and internal love they need to live their most fulfilling life.

Life can be difficult and overwhelming. There’s always these questions like:

    • Will my anxiety ever get better?
    • Do I use substances as a coping mechanism? If so, when should I get help?
    • Have I placed myself in negative relationships because I feel like I don’t deserve more?
    • How has my culture influenced my desire to search for help?

No matter where you’re at in your journey, I believe that there is always hope – regardless of what life has thrown at you or what you’ve tried before.

You deserve better than just getting by, you deserve to fully live. And I will help you get there with one thought change, one behavior change, at a time.

I’m an avid traveler, and have been to 20 places in the last year! Some of my favorites were London, Cancun, Vegas, and Gatlinburg!
